Chemical Threat Identification: OSCE Helps Ukraine's Emergency Responders to Master Sampling
As the war is enhancing risks of industrial and other emergencies with release or spill of dangerous substances, correct identification of chemicals is key to effective response by civil protection agencies. For that, responders need to have skills and knowledge in gathering of samples on site, so that specialized labs can perform analysis with precise results. The OSCE helped the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to elaborate methodological guidance on sampling, organized training of its personnel and provided expendables that can be used to implement the procedure correctly.
