On 15th March 2016, the 64th meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) took place in Ergneti, co-facilitated by Kęstutis Jankauskas, the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), and Ambassador Guenther Baechler, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

The overall security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) was extensively considered. The recent incidents in the vicinity of the ABL, in particular in the area of Jariasheni, were discussed. The co-facilitators encouraged the use of the hotline mechanism in such cases to avoid misunderstanding and to keep the situation calm.

Ways forward in connection with humanitarian cases were pursued in a constructive manner. All participants positively acknowledged the recent coordinated release of detainees from Tbilisi, Sukhumi and Tskhinvali.

The next IPRM meeting will take place on 20th April 2016.
